Bret Shepherd, TW Gearhead
Bret Shepherd is a male human, tall and solidly built, with short brown hair, hazel eyes, and light skin. His normal clothing consists of work overalls (usually stained with various machine fluids), heavy boots, and toolbelts.
Bret is a tinkerer at heart. Even before he learned techno-wizardry, he was learning how to make things that would go fast. This would occasionally get him in trouble with local peace-keepers when one of his creations would go awry, but nothing that would land him in serious trouble. A chance encounter with an older techno-wizard when bret was 15 would change his life considerably, though. He was living in the 'Burbs with his family, and an adventuring techno-wizard asked Bret where the nearest cantina was. Bret was instantly awestruck with the stranger's gear, and they talked for what seemed like hours.
Then CS troops came for the stranger. He managed to escape, but the soldiers questioned Bret extensively. Eventually convinced that the youth knew nothing about the escaped techno-wizard, they brought him back to his parents, who admonished him thouroughly.
But Bret was fascinated with techno-wizardry, and how it could be used to make even better speed machines. He learned the secrets of techno-wizardry in secret, and his parents threw him out when they discovered what he had done. They couldn't risk the CS authorities learning that their son was a magic user. With nowhere else to go, Bret moved westward, eventually settling outside of CS claimed territory. He eventually set up a sturdy homestead far away from ley lines, the CS, pretty much everybody. He rarely makes his way back to "civilized" areas, prefering instead to tinker away in his workshop. Occasionally he will adventure to find new machines and parts to work on.
